Nocturia can be relieved by massaging acupoints such as Zhongji acupoint, Ren Yu acupoint, Taixi acupoint and Shui Dao acupoint according to different types of evidence. Zhongji point is located in the lower abdomen, about 4 inches below the umbilicus, on the anterior midline, mainly has the effect of tonifying kidney qi, benefit the bladder, clearing dampness and heat, and is also suitable for the treatment of excessive nocturia. Ren Yu point is located under the spinous process of the 2nd lumbar vertebra, 1.5 inches beside the posterior midline, and can be used clinically for treating enuresis, spermatorrhea, impotence, lumbago, menstrual irregularities, etc. It can also improve the symptoms of excessive nocturia. Taixi point is located in the depression between the back of the inner ankle and the tendon of the heel bone, it has the effect of clearing heat and anger, and can be mainly used to treat asthma, chest pain and hemoptysis, thirst, frequent urination, lumbar and spinal pain, and coldness of the lower limbs. Shui Dao point is located in the lower abdomen, 3 inches below the umbilicus and 2 inches away from the median line, and is mainly used to treat dysuria (dyspareunia), abdominal distension and pain, enuresis, and dysuria, and can also alleviate nocturnal polyuria. It is recommended that when patients have excessive nocturia, they should massage the acupoints reasonably under the guidance of Chinese medicine practitioners for relief, and should not choose the acupoints or acupuncture on their own, so as not to cause serious consequences.
