Orthodontics is a constant battle, and patients who have orthodontics must persevere to the end. A regular orthodontist, when orthodontic treatment is carried out carefully and responsibly, usually does not cause complications for the patient. However, if a doctor makes a mistake in the diagnosis of malocclusion, orthodontic design, or improperly operates during treatment, it can sometimes cause some problems. For example: causing new malocclusion; aggravating the existing TMJ dysfunction; excessive loosening of teeth or even loss of teeth. However, in the process of orthodontic treatment, if the patient interrupts the treatment by himself, there is a possibility that: 1. Patients who have their teeth extracted for orthodontic treatment, if they interrupt the treatment by themselves, over time, the adjacent teeth will fall back to the extraction gap, and the teeth in the opposite jaw will be too long, thus affecting the chewing function and even damaging the health of the temporomandibular joint. 2, there can be a relapse of malocclusion, and the orthodontic effect that has been achieved may disappear on its own. 3, in orthodontics, due to the movement of the teeth, there may be a temporary joint interference, so when the orthodontic treatment is interrupted by itself, this temporary interference will become permanent interference. This situation will first affect the health of the interfering teeth, teeth may appear loose, serious cases will also cause periodontal disease. Secondly, damage to the temporomandibular joint and dysfunction of the masticatory system may occur as a result of long-term joint interference. Interruption of orthodontic treatment by the patient during the course of orthodontic treatment not only makes the previous work lost, but also may cause further damage to the normal function and health of the masticatory system.
