Rattling in the jaw requires vigilance

In daily life, there are many people who have a “ka, ka” or “ka-ba, ka-ba” sound in their jaws when they open and close their mouths. If we have these problems, please do not forget to go to the dental hospital to check. Scientifically speaking, your “jaw”, i.e. TMJ, is usually suffering from TMJ disorder. The TMJ is the only joint in the face and its structure and movement are among the most complex joints in the human body. The movements of chewing, speech, swallowing and expression in our daily lives all depend on the normal participation of the TMJ. TMJ disorders are common diseases in the oral cavity and have a high prevalence in the population. The prevalence is estimated to be between 28% and 88%. The causes of TMJ disorders are complex and related to a variety of factors The common ones are mental factors, such as anxiety, irritability, nervousness, agitation and insomnia; occlusal factors, the examination of patients suffering from this disease often reveals symptoms such as multiple missing teeth, severe tooth wear and serious dental irregularities; in addition, patients often have a preference for chewing hard foods, grinding their teeth at night, clenching their teeth when they are nervous, etc. These factors can all contribute to the development of TMJ disorders. These factors can cause damage to the temporomandibular joint. The clinical manifestations of this disease are diverse. In addition to a rattling sound in the jaw, there is also pain in the muscles in the joint area in front of the ear or around the joint when opening and biting food, which is sometimes mistaken for toothache or trigeminal neuralgia by patients. Some patients also have overly large or small openings. In addition, this disease is often accompanied by many other symptoms, such as tinnitus, deafness, dizziness, etc. So when you have the above symptoms, don’t forget to go to the dental clinic to have your jaw checked if no problems are found in other departments. Since the jaw is always in a state of movement when we talk and eat, even when it is sick it cannot be fixed like other joints in the body to get a good rest, so once it is sick its treatment is a rather complicated process. We hope that you will not neglect your jaw while paying attention to the health of your whole body.
