The yellowing of teeth from betel nut can be washed away by scaling to restore the original color of the teeth.
Dental scaling is ultrasonic cleaning, through ultrasonic vibration to break down the tartar, remove plaque and pigmentation. Some teeth and root surfaces have more stains, which are tightly bound to the surface of the teeth and are difficult to be removed only by ultrasonic vibration. Polishing techniques, such as rubber cup polishing and sandblasting, can be used to remove residual pigments, make the surface of the teeth clean and slow down the speed and degree of pigment re-adhesion.
It is important to note that ultrasonic cleaning is contraindicated for patients with old pacemakers. Also patients with infectious diseases such as hepatitis, tuberculosis and AIDS should not undergo ultrasonic teeth cleaning.
