Are moles contagious?

Moles are not contagious. Moles are most commonly melanocytic nevi, which are formed by benign proliferation of melanocytes, in addition to other types of nevi such as epidermal nevi and sebaceous nevi. The exact cause of nevi is unknown and may be related to genetic mutations, ultraviolet radiation in the environment, medications, trauma, and changes in hormone levels. Moles are not contagious, so there is no need to be overly nervous. In addition, most moles generally do not require treatment. If the patient strongly requests treatment, or if the mole has serious symptoms or a tendency for malignant changes such as color change, increase in size, itching and pain (such as sebaceous nevus), then surgery may be considered to remove it. It is recommended to consult a doctor in time to receive standardized diagnosis and treatment if necessary.
