Ulcers on the base of the tongue generally have two causes. One type of ulcer is a traumatic ulcer for a specific part of the base of the tongue. These ulcers often occur in infants and children with short tongue tethering. When these children start to grow teeth, the teeth will often bite into the corresponding base of the tongue because of the short tongue tethering, and over time, traumatic ulcers will form and are difficult to heal. In this case, we can consider lengthening surgery for the tongue ligament, and the ulcer will be significantly relieved after the lengthening of the tongue ligament. In addition to this particular traumatic ulcer, the base of the tongue ulcer also belongs to the mouth ulcer, but it is a part of the mouth ulcer, it is the same as the mouth ulcer, the cause is not clear. These include immune factors, nutritional deficiencies, hormone regulation, psychological factors, infectious factors, and even genetic factors, all of which are causes of mouth ulcers and, of course, causes of base of tongue ulcers.
