Principles of rehabilitation exercises for stroke patients with hemiplegia?

The following principles should be observed when performing rehabilitation exercises for hemiplegic patients: (1) Consistency. Exercise at least once a day and be persistent. Otherwise, it is not easy to consolidate the effect of exercise. (2) Gradual and orderly progress. Gradually improve the difficulty of the exercise and the amount of exercise. (3) Appropriate for each person. Patients with stroke and hemiplegia should choose the appropriate exercise and activity according to their respective conditions and physical status. (4) Combine work and rest. You should not be in a hurry. Especially for patients with cardiovascular disease, pay more attention. Prevent excessive heartbeat (not more than 140 beats per minute) and heart rhythm disorders, prevent blood pressure from being too high (not more than 26.6/16 kPa); avoid breath-holding action and excessive force. If muscle tension occurs after exercise, it means that the amount of exercise has been too much and should be reduced appropriately. (5) Pay attention to safety and prevent accidents. (6) Strengthen the exercise of normal limb and trunk function to compensate for the function of the residual limb. (7) Prevent disuse syndrome, prevent shoulder stiffness, limb contracture deformity and other sequelae. (8) Assemble prosthetic and orthotic devices. For amputees, prosthesis can be fitted to restore their self-care and working ability to a certain extent. For some limb deformity, abnormal movement of patients with appropriate orthopedic devices can prevent further development of deformity and compensate for functional activities. For patients with inconvenient walking, they can be equipped with walking sticks. (9) Learn to use assistive devices and simple tools during functional training for daily living. (10) Exercise should be carried out according to the rehabilitation principles of neurological disorders. The amount of exercise should be small at first, and functional training should be started several weeks after the disease. It can be appropriately combined with acupuncture, qigong, massage and physiotherapy to promote functional recovery.
