Infants with crossed eyes, also known as internal strabismus, are a common eye condition in infants. To determine whether an infant has crossed eyes, it is very easy to see if the internal strabismus is more pronounced, and both eyes will be found to be skewed inward. In the case of mild internal strabismus, there is usually no way to see it on your own. You can go to the hospital for a detailed eye position examination and synoptic machine examination, which can reveal a relatively small degree of internal strabismus. The treatment of internal strabismus depends on the specific type. In the case of adjustable internal strabismus, it is usually caused by a high degree of refractive error, such as high astigmatism or high hyperopia, and can be corrected by wearing glasses. In the case of non-adjustable internal strabismus, surgical correction may be considered.
