According to the World Health Organization, 20% of children worldwide suffer from varying degrees of myopia. After half a century of exploration, a new myopia correction technology, corneal shaping technology, was first born in the United States in the 1960s.
According to a survey conducted by the world’s optometric authorities, more than 91% of myopic patients in the United States recognize that keratoplasty is safe and effective; 91% of myopic patients actively consult their doctors for details about keratoplasty, 84% of American teenage myopic patients use keratoplasty lenses, and 170,000 people have been verified, proving that keratoplasty lenses are safe and effective in treating youth myopia.
Keratomileusis non-invasive myopia correction will become a global trend in optometric technology.
1.Keratomileusis restores the shape of the cornea and corrects myopia without trauma
Keratomileusis is the use of non-invasive corneal shaping technology to restore the shape of the cornea to achieve the purpose of myopia correction.
The corneas of myopic people are more prominent than they were before myopia. Corneal shaping lenses are worn on the corneas of myopic people, using the hydrodynamic effect of an exchange layer of unevenly distributed tears between the lens and the cornea to thin the center of the cornea, flatten the curvature, and restore the shape of the cornea, thus eliminating or reducing myopia.
Through the reverse geometric design, the keratoplasty lens, with the help of computer analysis of corneal parameters, determine the various data of the wearer’s lens, a breakthrough to achieve non-invasive change in the refractive power of the cornea, to truly achieve personalized correction and tailor-made for each myopic patient.
2.Keratomileusis full fit design, comfortable and safe to wear
The keratoplasty lens is made by combining the individual examination and trial wearing situation to analyze the multi-radius tailor-made to completely match the individual corneal physiology, one person one lens, more comfortable and safe to wear.
3.How many degrees of myopia can keratomileusis be reduced?
It depends on the conditions of wearing glasses, mainly including the curvature of the cornea, corneal eccentricity and eye axis length and other factors. If the conditions of the wearing eye are good, it is normal to reduce 500-600 degrees, or even more.
4. Are keratoconus lenses to be worn at night or during the day?
A few years ago, because of the lack of oxygen permeability of the lens material, keratoplasty lenses could only be worn during the day, which proved to be very unsatisfactory for myopia correction due to poor positioning of the lenses as a result of constant blinking during the day. Since the introduction of high oxygen permeability materials (oxygen permeability coefficient greater than 120), keratomileusis has been changed to nighttime wear, not only is the lens positioning stable, but also the eyelids produce a certain amount of pressure on the lens, and enough negative pressure is generated under the lens to make keratomileusis a critical success.
5.How should the standardized keratoplasty lenses be worn with?
Corneal shaping lenses should be fitted by a registered optometrist. During the fitting process, at least computerized optometry, corneal curvature testing, comprehensive optometry testing, slit lamp microscopy testing, intraocular pressure testing, fundus examination and corneal topography examination are performed. Therefore, if you find that the fitting unit does not have the above means of examination, and the price of the lenses is very low, do not wear them hastily.
6.How to use keratomileusis correctly?
(1) Within 3 months of first wearing keratoplasty lenses, you should go to the dispensing office to receive a regular and comprehensive review at least 5 times according to the prescribed time. After 3 months of wear, regular review is still required.
(2) Maintain personal hygiene during lens wear and always wash your hands when handling lenses.
(3) When wearing lenses, make sure that the inside of the lenses are filled with eye lubricant before wearing the lenses and that there are no air bubbles under the lenses after wearing the lenses.
(4) If by chance eye redness or eye pain occurs during the wearing period, do not be overly nervous, but stop wearing the lenses for two or three days or ask the doctor to review and adjust the lens specifications.
