Blue nevus is a benign rash that is usually not cancerous and does not require treatment. Blue nevus usually occurs on the extremities or trunk, has clear borders, is pinpoint to green bean in size, grows slowly, and appears light gray, sky blue, or blue-gray in appearance. Because blue nevi are deep and usually located in the dermis, laser and cryotherapy are difficult to remove the rash. Therefore, for blue nevi that affect the aesthetic appearance, surgical excision is an option if removal is considered.
