Hymenoplasty

A woman with a frown walked into the clinic and asked to be examined. The doctor asked the reason for the visit, but she could not tell any discomfort. When the doctor asked about her marital status and married life, he learned that the woman had been married for one month, but had only had sex twice in total. It turned out that during the first intercourse, the newlywed husband did not see any bleeding, so he thought that his wife had cheated him and was no longer a virgin before the marriage. The woman felt that her husband’s suspicion was an insult to her feelings, but could not come up with strong reasons to prove her innocence. The two sides in the unhappy stalemate, and even the marriage has produced a crisis. The honeymoon should have been happy, but to this woman brought endless trouble, so she began to check the book, learned that trauma may appear hymen rupture, so carefully remembered the past, remembered that in secondary school did once fall from the double bar, the vulva area very painful, more than half an hour to slowly relieve, then also did not think. This time, I came to the hospital because I wanted to confirm through the doctor’s examination that I had indeed suffered a traumatic injury back then. After the examination, the doctor told me the truth: he could only confirm that the hymen was indeed ruptured, but could not determine whether it was due to trauma or not. The lady was very disappointed and asked if she could have her hymen repaired …… The hymen is a layer of membrane-like tissue at the external opening of the vagina, the thickness, elasticity and size of the opening varies from person to person. It can bleed a little during first intercourse due to rupture, but if it is thick and flexible, it may not bleed. Rupture of the hymen can also be caused by strenuous exercise or trauma, such as a straddling injury to a little girl at play. However, a medical examination cannot determine the cause unless the trauma has just occurred and active bleeding is seen at the rupture site. Hymen repair is the surgical closure of a ruptured hymen, which artificially causes bleeding on the wedding night in a sexually experienced woman. Due to anatomical reasons and poor circulation after the rupture, the results of the procedure vary from person to person, and some have more severe scarring after surgery, which can have an impact on future married life. Moreover, the procedure has raised ethical objections, so it is generally only performed on unmarried women who have been sexually raped and expect to make up for the psychological trauma to some extent through surgery. Is it so important that the hymen is intact? Marriage means trust, it means believing and accepting each other’s true feelings, so why does it have to be about whether or not the membrane is intact, whether or not it should bleed, and leave a shadow on the relationship? I hope that the newlywed husband can come out of the shadow, embrace the sunshine and live happily.
