The Difference Between Arrest and Premature Beating

The difference between arrested beats (i.e., stop beats) and premature beats mainly lies in the etiology, electrocardiographic manifestations, and treatment. 1. Etiology: Arrest is mostly seen in sinus node degeneration and fibrosis, acute inferior wall myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident and other lesions, some drugs (such as digitalis drugs, acetylcholine) can also cause sinus arrest; premature beats can be seen in normal people, but also in various organic heart, such as coronary artery disease, pulmonary artery disease, cardiomyopathy and so on. 2. Electrocardiogram (ECG) performance: arrest is characterized by a significantly longer interval than the normal PP interval without P-wave occurrence; premature beat ECG is characterized by the early occurrence of P-wave, which is different from the morphology of sinus P-wave, and the PR interval is >120 milliseconds. Most of them are incomplete compensatory intervals. 3. Therapeutic methods: stop pacing treatment with sick sinus syndrome, such as antiarrhythmic drugs, pacing therapy, etc.; premature beats without symptoms usually do not need to be treated, the patient should be persuaded to quit smoking, quit drinking alcohol, drink less coffee, and so on. It is recommended that patients go to the hospital in a timely manner, under the guidance of the doctor, to receive standardized treatment.
