The combined effect of frontal muscle contraction, age and light causes forehead wrinkles that create expressions such as anxiety, fatigue and fear. Botox injections can improve the forehead wrinkles and express positive emotions. The ideal effect of botulinum toxin injections for forehead wrinkles is that when a person’s expression is at rest, the forehead wrinkles disappear completely, while when expressing emotions, it does not affect the movement of the forehead but produces only small wrinkles. The effect usually lasts for at least 3 months and sometimes 4 to 6 months after the Botox injection. In some special cases, the improvement of wrinkles may not be the same on both sides after the first Botox injection, even if the same dose is applied. If this occurs, additional injections are needed 2 to 3 weeks later and can usually correct small asymmetries. The most common complication of botulinum toxin injections in the forehead is brow ptosis. If brow ptosis occurs, there is no medication to treat it but only until the effects of Botox wear off, so the focus is on prevention. Other adverse reactions include petechiae, local edema, rash, and pain in and around the injection site, which usually resolve within 24 to 36 hours. Correction of raised head lines can also be done by burying 3 to 5 suspension lines perpendicular to the raised head lines and in a parallel arrangement; 5 to 10 smoothing lines per side in a parallel arrangement with the raised head lines or in a web-like crossover.
