Paediatric purulent tonsillitis can heal in 1-2 weeks, depending on the progress of the disease, the type of source of infection, and the treatment plan, as detailed below.
In milder cases, patients are advised to give priority to medication, which starts to improve in about 3-5 days, with a total treatment cycle of about one week. If symptoms do not resolve or tend to worsen, infusion therapy may be tried, with significant improvement usually seen in three days, for a total treatment period of approximately 10 to 14 days.
It is important to note that paediatric purulent tonsillitis has a high risk of recurrence, especially when caused by streptococcal infections, which can lead to involvement of other organs and can easily recur within a short period of time.
Therefore, it is important that patients follow medical advice until the lesion is completely cleared and do not stop taking the medication. Otherwise, the disease will not only migrate but also develop into chronic tonsillitis.
