Pediatric suppurative tonsillitis can be treated with oral, infusion and topical medications to remove the pus. A clinical treatment plan needs to be developed on a patient-by-patient basis and under medical supervision, as detailed below.
If you want to remove the pus temporarily and improve patient comfort, try topical medication. Rinsing the tonsils with saline, gargling with compound chlorhexidine, spraying the throat with a throat-opening sword and using a cotton swab to remove it directly are all very effective forms of treatment.
If you want to get rid of the pus at the root, you need to treat it promptly with medication, commonly known as antibiotics, i.e. oral cephalosporin, amoxicillin and penicillin. There are two main types of medication: oral and infusion.
Oral medication is suitable for milder cases and infusion for more severe cases.
