The preoperative tests that need to be completed at our hospital are generally performed on an outpatient basis and are broadly divided into blood tests, imaging tests, and other tests. Blood tests include: routine blood, urine, coagulation, hepatitis B antibody, hepatitis C antibody, HIV antibody, syphilis antibody, blood group, blood biochemistry and blood gas analysis. Imaging tests include: chest X-ray, echocardiography, carotid ultrasound and coronary angiography. Other tests include electrocardiogram and, if necessary, 24-hour ambulatory electrocardiogram. Some tests may need to be reviewed after hospitalization if there is any doubt about the results. If there is a change in condition after hospitalization, such as fever, a repeat blood test may be required. Coronary angiograms that have been done outside the hospital do not need to be reviewed in our hospital, but they need to be done within 6 months. Coronary angiograms that are older than 6 months are recommended to be reviewed because the coronary lesion may have progressed.
