What are the causes of skin scarring?

Skin scar formation is a product of the skin’s own self-repair of skin trauma and is formed as a result of skin injury to the body, including trauma to the skin, cuts, burns, skin infections, surgical procedures, etc. Most scarring usually occurs within 1 year of a localized skin injury. Why some people are particularly good at self-repairing wounds, even deeper wounds and larger traumas can eventually be repaired to restore their original skin without scarring or only inconspicuous traces. Some people have wounds that leave unsightly scars, and some also leave keloids, like red worms crawling on the skin, or worse, large meatballs. Some scarring is pigmented, some are shiny, some are white like white spots, some are black like black spots, some are uneven, some are hard, some are soft, and some are deformed. There are many reasons for scarring, including burns, scalds, electric burns, falls, knife wounds, car accidents; scarring from surgery, skin grafting, laser surgery, liquid nitrogen surgery, dermabrasion; scratch scars, allergy scars, and so on. Although the causes are different, the ultimate damage to the skin is the same —- scarring. Medical research agrees that when the skin is traumatized, during the healing process, connective tissue proliferates, cellular components increase, fibrosis occurs, and keloid scars are formed. Infection of the wound during the healing process, repeated uncovering of the scar, and too much external stimulation will increase the scar. The quality of the injured person’s blood, body condition, and metabolic rate all affect the healing effect of the scar.
