Recently there was news that a research institute in the United States published a new view. Researchers at the University of Washington School of Medicine conducted an experiment in which 20 obese people were encouraged to continue gaining weight by eating an extra 1,000 calories a day, causing them to gain 6 percent of their body weight within a few months, and found that about a quarter of them remained very healthy. The study found that the original healthy obese people remained healthy after continuing to gain weight; while people who originally suffered from obesity-related diseases, such as high blood pressure, fatty liver, high cholesterol, etc., continued to gain weight and health conditions worsened. In response to this study, experts believe that for obese people with poor health, some of their physical conditions are different from those of normal people, such as abnormal metabolism leading to the accumulation of excess fat in the liver or differences in the function of genes in adipose tissue. Can a conclusion be drawn from this study that obesity is a false proposition in terms of susceptibility to diseases such as fatty liver and hypertension? Personally, I think this is a very failed study. Because this study ignored several problems: 1, one is to ignore the fact that obesity is a disease exists. This, is the medical profession is not able to fully understand the root cause of the harm of obesity disease. Obesity is a disease can not be sloppy. 2, two is obesity and complications between the correspondence problem. If say obesity is easy to cause hypertension, coronary heart disease, dyslipidemia, many people can accept. Because the fact is true, in reality many people are experiencing these complications because of obesity. But the reason why some obese patients do not appear these conditions, and some to appear? There are complex factors involved, but one of them is time. Many times people have a strong metabolic capacity, from compensation, loss of compensation and later compensatory incompetence, in between is a process of disease development. This process can be long or short, and if only in a few months to verify the correspondence between obesity and these complications, it seems to be a long time less. 3, three is obesity has a degree of the problem. To this day, who can say what kind of degree of body fat people can reach in the normal state? This is not easy to say, but indeed many people fat, some people but maintain the status quo ante. Then there is a large space between the calculation of thinness and the highest level of obesity. This space exists sometimes blurs people’s awareness and understanding of the dangers of fat. Because, people are a treasure trove, there is a very strong tolerance for fat. Within the tolerable range, sometimes people have a strong metabolic capacity and may show normal in some biochemical indicators, but it is important to take a long-term view and not just look at one stage.
