What about foreign bodies in the digestive tract in children?

Foreign bodies in the digestive tract are a common emergency in children. They are often caused by careless feeding or accidental swallowing of foreign bodies, such as fish spikes, coins, bone fragments and button batteries. Some foreign bodies may cause serious injury to the child, and parents often regret it too late. Recently, two cases of foreign body surgery were performed in our department, one of which was a wire and the other was a bone. The child who accidentally swallowed the bone was just one year old, and it was only two weeks after the accident that the parents of the child turned to our hospital, at which time the bone had already punctured the esophageal wall, causing a neck abscess and critical condition. It was only after the joint efforts of the medical and nursing staffs, overcoming many difficulties, that the operation was successfully completed. Due to the seriousness of the condition, the child had to be admitted to the intensive care unit after the operation, and whether the condition would deteriorate was subject to further observation. The parents are extremely remorseful, but the damage to the child has already been done and it is difficult to make up for it completely. The main purpose of this case is to remind parents of children with tracheal foreign bodies, foreign bodies in the esophagus, trauma and other accidental injuries, which can threaten the health and even the life of the child at any time, and a little carelessness can lead to a lifetime of regret. It is the duty of every guardian to learn the general knowledge of child care and protect children from accidental injuries.
