Pediatric gastrointestinal foreign bodies of date pits

Intestinal perforation due to swallowing of a foreign body in a pediatric patient 3 year old boy, came to the clinic with abdominal pain, abdominal distension, fever and vomiting, yellowish-green substance. On examination of abdominal muscle tension, peritonitis was considered, surgical exploration, preoperative ultrasound examination suggested an abdominal foreign body, which was still located in the intestinal lumen, not penetrated. Intraoperatively, purulent seepage from the abdominal cavity, intestinal adhesions, foreign body located in the small intestine, and then proximal exploration revealed perforation of the intestinal wall (hedge). The foreign body was removed and the bowel wall was repaired. Color ultrasonography suggests intra-abdominal foreign body and intestinal obstruction The intestinal wall was punctured and perforated, edema and inflammation were more obvious, and the surrounding intestinal tube was wrapped The foreign body was found in the intestinal lumen, which looked like a date palm The foreign body was removed as a date palm with sharp ends
