How to determine amblyopia

In addition to checking binocular vision, the determination of amblyopia should also take into account age factors, for example, the best corrected visual acuity should be 0.5 for three-year-old children, 0.6 for four-year-olds, 0.7 for five-year-olds, and 0.8 or more for six-year-olds, and the difference in visual acuity between the two eyes should be less than two lines, if it is lower than this standard, amblyopia needs to be considered. Also, pathological factors and organic lesions that may cause vision loss, such as congenital fundus disease and macular disease, need to be excluded. In addition, a comprehensive analysis of risk factors for amblyopia, such as the presence of high refractive error, refractive aberration in both eyes, strabismus in one eye, and form deprivation in one or both eyes, is also needed to make a correct judgment of amblyopia.
