What is the best way to rehydrate a child with fever?

Children with fever need to be rehydrated promptly.
If the child has violent vomiting or diarrhoea and is unable to take oral medication and eat or drink, or if this results in dehydration and acidosis, fluids are needed to rapidly replace lost water, nutrients and electrolytes, or to correct acidosis. Coma or other inability to eat requires fluids to replenish water, electrolytes, heat and nutrients.
