The phenomenon of fever convulsions in children is clinically known as febrile convulsions. It is a convulsion that occurs in children in the early stages of respiratory infection or other infectious diseases when the body temperature rises >= 39°C. The main manifestation is the sudden onset of generalized or localized tonic or clonic jerking of the muscles, with both eyes gazing, squinting, straightening or turning upwards, accompanied by loss of consciousness. Babies with generalized fever convulsions must be brought to the hospital immediately for emergency treatment and must not be delayed. Before arriving at the hospital, parents are advised to do the following: 1. Parents should remain calm, do not panic, do not shout or shake or pat the child with force. If the child’s head is tilted back and the limbs are straight and stiff, do not bend the child’s limbs, and try to reduce the stimulation to the child. 2. Keep the airway open, keep the child lying down and tilt the head to the side to avoid choking or aspiration pneumonia caused by oral saliva and vomit entering the trachea. At the same time, untie the child’s collar to avoid the neck being strangled too tightly to affect the smooth flow of the airway. 3, to prevent children from biting their tongues, you can twist a handkerchief into a twist and stuff it in the middle of the child’s incisors. Or wrap a chopstick with clean gauze and place it between the child’s upper and lower teeth to keep the airway open, prevent biting of the tongue and avoid the return of oral saliva and vomit into the trachea to avoid asphyxia or aspiration pneumonia. 4, physical cooling, wipe the body with a hot towel, the water temperature required slightly hot, to the temperature acceptable to adult hands as a limit, the temperature is too high easily cause the child’s skin burns. Wipe to the skin slightly red as degree. 5, most about 3 minutes or so baby convulsions will stop, after more children to drink water to prevent excessive sweating caused by deficiency. Parents should immediately send the baby to the nearest hospital for examination of the cause and further treatment. If the baby has suffered from febrile convulsions, when suffering from a cold or febrile illness at the beginning, oral antipyretics and sedatives should be given in advance, or physical cooling should be used to prevent a sudden rise in body temperature.
