Alcoholic cirrhosis

  Alcoholic cirrhosis is on the rise in China and is now the second leading cause of liver cirrhosis. It is not alarming that excessive alcohol consumption damages the liver and even leads to life-threatening conditions. Many people get cirrhosis at a young age and pass away in their 50s, which is a great pity. In the clinic, it is common for alcoholic cirrhosis to occur in the 50s, and there are many patients in their 30s.  Example Case 1: Wang, 52 years old, is a marketing staff of a company. Since he started working, he has been drinking with customers for more than 30 years, drinking half a kilogram of liquor (80 grams of alcohol) every day. At the beginning of last year, he found that his stomach was a little distended, his calves were swollen and he had little urine. When he went to the hospital for examination, he already had advanced alcoholic cirrhosis (alcoholic liver). After battling with the disease for a year, he recently passed away.  Case 2: Li, 36 years old, an alcoholic who drank one pound of liquor (160 grams of alcohol) per day, was a guard at a park. He has to patrol around the park every day, early last year, but he found that every day to walk this circle even need to rest several times, more than 30 years old even a kilometer of the road can not walk down. To the hospital, a checkup, found to be a serious alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver.  Analysis of alcohol into the body, mainly through the liver to decomposition, therefore, long-term excessive drinking is bound to increase the burden on the liver, prone to cirrhosis.  Some studies show that a daily intake of 35 grams of alcohol may cause alcoholic liver disease; a daily intake of 160 grams of alcohol may cause alcoholic cirrhosis in 5 years. The greater the amount of alcohol consumed, the greater the risk of alcoholic cirrhosis. People who consume 40-60 grams of alcohol per day have a 6 times higher risk of developing cirrhosis than those who do not drink alcohol; those who consume 60-80 grams of alcohol per day have a 14 times higher risk of developing cirrhosis.  The symptoms of alcoholic liver are not only bloated stomach and swollen calves and little urination like Lao Wang, but also weakness, shortness of breath, yellow eyes, etc. In the later stages of development, one may even vomit blood and black stools. If such symptoms appear, it has been several years or even a decade of illness. It is also necessary to visit a hospital when bleeding does not stop and wounds do not heal because of vitamin K deficiency, when the stomach is large because ascites has appeared, and when the eyes are yellow because of jaundice. The main cause of death in patients with alcoholic liver is hemorrhage caused by rupture of esophagogastric fundic varices.  For the sake of your health, drink less alcohol.
