Is bed rest necessary for a low placenta?

Low placental attachment does not always require absolute bed rest, but needs to be treated differently depending on the specific location of the placenta. Low placental attachment includes central placenta praevia, partial placenta praevia, marginal placenta praevia and placenta hypoplacenta. In the case of central placenta praevia, bleeding symptoms may occur, usually in the late stages of pregnancy. Pregnant women with this type of placenta hypoplacenta need bed rest and cannot perform physical activities. Pregnant women with partial placenta praevia, where bleeding also occurs earlier, should be put on bed rest as early as possible, but can get out of bed and move around appropriately. For pregnant women with borderline placenta praevia and placenta hypoplacenta, bleeding symptoms occur later, mostly near full term. There is no need for these pregnant women to stay in bed, but they should be careful not to overexert themselves and not to engage in sports or physical labor.
