A hypoplastic placenta is one in which the placenta is positioned very close to the internal cervical os, less than 20 mm. As this is a dangerous condition, it can easily cause miscarriage. However, absolute bed rest is generally not recommended for pregnant women, but they can engage in light and moderate activities, ensure a regular routine, refrain from heavy physical work and prohibit sexual intercourse.
