Does the strength of tui na have an effect on the disease

To ask patients what is the biggest experience of massage therapy, probably most people will say: pain! Whether it is meridian massage, foot massage, Thai or Shiatsu or whatever, the only thing the patient seems to feel is pain. The disease is indeed cured, but we really need to make the patient so painful? Since Chinese medicine has been “so that the patient does not know the pain is the technique” of the old saying. The practice of treating pain with pain, or even replacing one kind of pain with another, is really the next best thing. Of course, it is not so easy to do “work”, so we can say that how to achieve the maximum effect with the least pain and cost, to ensure the safety of treatment and give the patient a sense of comfort is our eternal pursuit. Chinese medicine is the “middle of the road” medicine, she wants people to maintain a neutral state of yin and yang secret, the treatment should naturally prevent too much and too little. This is reflected in the massage technique, or the same word: deep penetration, force directly into the disease to remove the evil without harming the righteous, support the righteous without loving the evil. This is a combination of skill and theory, rather than the absolute value of power. In fact, Western medicine also noticed this a long time ago. While mild stimulation enhances the function of biological systems, strong stimulation is counterproductive, blocking normal information transmission pathways and inhibiting the physiological functions of the organism. It seems that “in the disease that stop, too much is not enough” is the golden rule of all medicine. But many massage doctors, foot therapists, dietitians once faced with disease, or eager to achieve, or control improper overkill, often too much surgery, stimulation disorder, causing unnecessary pain to patients. Perhaps it makes sense not to treat the disease without pain, after all, any treatment will bring discomfort and even pain to the patient. But the concept of “the more pain, the better” is absolutely wrong. Almost all Tui Na doctors have similar experiences, and it is the practice that teaches us how to control the amount of stimulation, how to adjust the rhythm of treatment, and how to judge whether the disease can be “quickly removed” or should be “slowly charted”. With the theoretical guidance of “stopping the disease when it is too late”, the treatment process should also be short. This is true whether it is the relaxation technique for soft tissues, the pointing technique for meridians and internal organs, or the bone setting technique for bone and joint alignment. Soft tissues that are already in a pathological state can experience increased pain, swelling, and bleeding under the action of manipulation that takes too long, is not appropriate, etc., resulting in more pain for the patient. Do not think that this is an inevitable process of tui na manipulation, or even to the extreme that this is the effect of manipulative action. That is the manifestation of the body damage, is not a good grasp of the scale of treatment is the inevitable result. Here to point out in particular, massage clinical also exists a phenomenon of abuse of trigger method. Many patients suffering from spinal disorders, including some massage doctors always believe that joint rehabilitation is the cure for all diseases, regardless of the degree of deviation, regardless of symptoms related or not, are the cervical thoracic lumbar spine wrenching as a conventional method, as if not to hear the “click” of the popping sound is not treated, it does not show the massage technique. It must be understood that the joint is a solid, flexible structure, the wrong seam is sure to reset the adjustment. But the small joint has been restored to continue to wrench is out of proportion, will cause new damage.
