What are the symptoms of an arm vein thrombosis?

Arm vein thrombosis may present with symptoms such as arm swelling, pain and skin bruising. Arm vein thrombosis is caused by pressure on the blood vessels due to a change in position or forceful activity of the upper limb, or damage to the vein wall due to venipuncture, surgery, or trauma, which can lead to the formation of arm vein thrombosis. The earliest symptom of venous thrombosis in the arm is swelling of the upper limb, which may extend from the fingers to the upper arm, or even to the whole upper limb, or it may only be manifested as soreness, pain, and the skin may be purplish or cyanotic in color. Patients with venous thrombosis in the arm should not squeeze the limb with venous thrombosis to avoid localized pain or even pulmonary embolism due to dislodgment of the thrombus through the cardiopulmonary circulation. Diet is recommended to eat light and easy to digest and nutritious food, which is good for the patient’s health. When a patient has a venous thrombosis in the arm, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time and actively cooperate with the doctor for treatment.
