Hypoplastic placenta is one of the types of placenta praevia and is an important cause of late pregnancy haemorrhage and preterm labour. In late pregnancy, haemorrhage or even shock in pregnant women can occur at any time and may endanger the patient’s life if local medical conditions are poor.
In cases of massive blood loss in a short period of time, emergency caesarean section is required to terminate the pregnancy if spontaneous delivery is not possible. During the operation, if it is found that the blood loss cannot be stopped by surgery and medication, a hysterectomy may sometimes be performed to save the life of the pregnant woman.
