Iodophor has an effect on fungi. Iodophor is usually used for skin disinfection at surgical sites, as well as for local disinfection of burns, purulent skin inflammation or treatment of fungal skin infections. Iodophor is an indefinite complex of iodine carrier, which contains 80%-90% of bound iodine that can be depolymerized into free iodine. It is not only concentrated and strong in bactericidal power, but also tasteless, non-irritating, non-allergenic and low in toxicity, and is a broad-spectrum bactericide. It can effectively kill viruses, bacteria, bacterium, fungi and protozoa. At a concentration of 15ppm, it can kill various bacterial propagules within 1 minute, and it takes 1.5 hours to kill fungi, and longer to kill budding spores. At 150ppm, it can destroy hepatitis B surface antigen in 10 minutes. At disinfection concentration, iodophor is usually red or amber in color, and when its concentration drops below 10 ppm, it turns white or yellowish and loses its bactericidal activity. Medical iodophor is usually less than 1% concentration, light brown in color, less irritating compared to iodine and alcohol, and can be used directly for disinfection at mucous membranes. However, when using it, it should be noted that it is forbidden to use it if you are allergic to iodine or have a burn area of more than 20%, and it should not be used at the same time with red mercury to avoid adverse consequences, so it is recommended to consult a doctor before use and follow medical advice.
