Note for patients with high myopia

High myopia (greater than 600 degrees), also known as pathological myopia, compared to the higher incidence in China, in 1999, myopia accounted for 61.02% of the 5908 high school students in one part of China, of which high myopia accounted for 42.2%, a staggering number. And the trend is increasing in recent years. High myopia has a greater impact on vision and a more serious prognosis. 60% of patients have a visual acuity below 0.1, and 34% become legally blind later. In addition to blurred vision, protruding eyes, visual fatigue, large pupils, light reflexes and reduced dark adaptation, the main comorbidities are as follows: (1) flying mosquitoes, also known as vitreous opacity. With age, 100% of patients with high myopia have vitreous opacities. (2) Retinopathy: retinal choroidal atrophy, macular neovascularization, hemorrhage, macular splitting-clefting, fuch’s spot and lacquer cracking. (3) Retinal detachment, about 5% of cases. (4) Posterior scleral staphyloma, the greater the degree of myopia, the more likely to form. (5) Cataract, often nuclear or posterior capsule type. (6) Glaucoma, the incidence of which is 6-8 times higher than that of normal people. The cause of high myopia is not exact, about 5-8% of patients and genetic related. Western medicine is mainly laser treatment of neovascularization, but the treatment effect is not clear. According to the long-term clinical treatment experience, combined with the theory of Chinese and Western medicine, we believe that: high myopia elongation of the anterior and posterior axis of the eye, thinning of the layers of the eye wall, increased tension, retinal arteries and veins elongation and thinning, poor blood circulation, retinal long-term malnutrition, which is the main cause of early retinal lesions. Chinese medicine theory believes that the cause of myopia is liver and kidney deficiency (Bing Fu deficiency) and Qi and blood deficiency, Bing Fu deficiency is manifested by congenital genetic factors, and infancy due to various diseases such as pneumonia, pneumonia, diarrhea and other diseases leading to indigestion and nutritional disorders. Dual deficiency of Qi and Blood is caused by the inability of children to moisten their eyes due to excessive use of Qi and Blood. According to the above Chinese and Western medical theory combined with clinical treatment experience, we proposed a combination of Chinese and Western medicine four-way therapy conservative treatment of high myopia fundus lesions, and achieved significant results, as follows: a. Intravenous drip vasodilator and nutritional drugs to strengthen retinal blood circulation, increase retinal nutrition, improve the long-term ischemia of high myopia retina. Chinese medicine treatment: mainly using liver and kidney tonic, qi and blood tonic and liver and eye clearing drugs to correct liver and kidney deficiency and qi and blood deficiency from a systemic perspective. Third, according to the Chinese medicine meridian theory, the acupuncture point injection drug method (water injection) is used to stimulate the meridians through the eyes to achieve the effect of smooth meridians and brighten the eyes. The acupuncture points include both posterior ball injection and ear acupuncture. Fourth, ultrasonic treatment to promote local blood circulation in the eye, while using blood activation and nutrition and IOP lowering drugs to achieve high concentration of local drugs in the eye and promote blood circulation in the retina. According to our long-term clinical observation and summary, the above therapies are significantly more effective than pure Western medicine and pure Chinese medicine, and the quadruple therapy has a complementary effect between each other and multiply the effect with half the effort, and the early prevention treatment is more effective. If you have high myopia, for the sake of your precious eyesight, you are welcome to consult, check and prevent treatment.
