Generally warts are hard to cure using medication and may need to be combined with physical therapy, surgery, etc.
Warts are caused by human papillomavirus infection. Generally, warts are difficult to be cured with medication, and commonly used medications include 5-fluorouracil, 5% imiquimod cream, 0.15% or 0.5% onychomycetin ointment, and 15% selenocycline ointment.
Due to the limited effect of medication, some patients may need to cooperate with doctors to take cryotherapy, laser therapy, electrocautery and other physical therapy.
Surgical excision should be considered for patients who do not respond to medication and physical therapy, or for patients with large warts. The majority of patients can improve or disappear after timely treatment, and it is currently considered to be clinically cured if the lesions do not recur for six months after treatment.
