Analysis of scar treatment results

There are many drugs and methods available to treat scars, and some of them are advertised or described in terms of techniques that seem foggy and unpredictable. However, at present, medical science has not yet conquered scars, and most of our work stays at the level of “improvement”, with some treatments improving the impact of scars on body functions and others improving the patient’s appearance. According to our treatment experience, we have summarized the current scientific, objective and pragmatic treatment ideas: “improvement of restricted organ function to basic restoration of organ function”, “large scars to small scars, small scars to inconspicuous scars”; as for “pragmatic” means that when communicating with patients, we should weigh the treatment effect and the price paid according to the specific situation of the scar, the patient’s psychological expectations, and the economic conditions, and try to choose the treatment plan that has more advantages than disadvantages. The best period for scar control is within 3-6 months after scar surgery, and the effect of drugs on surgical incisions beyond one year is very weak. Surgical fine repair can be performed after six months postoperatively. Commonly used methods include local pressure treatment, topical application of drugs such as Conrad, scar patches, and local application of skin reducers. Based on scientific and objective guiding ideas, choosing pragmatic treatment modalities, providing patients with professional treatment advice and choosing the best treatment plan within the limited conditions is our ultimate goal.
