Give your eyes a break

Are you a “head-down” person? Is your child a “head-down” person like you? Nowadays, with the popularity of computers, cell phones and other modern video devices, coupled with heavy academic pressure, the prevalence of myopia among adolescents is increasing year by year, and there is a trend toward younger and more serious development. Vision loss is one of the most important factors affecting adolescent health, and is also a major concern for many parents. The causes of myopia are many and complex, related to genetic and environmental factors, but the most common cause is bad eye habits, such as watching TV or using computer for a long time and at close range, reading in dim light, writing on the desk, etc., which cause eye strain and fatigue and cause myopia. Many parents will pay attention to remind their children to use their eyes correctly in daily life to prevent myopia. But how to treat myopia that has already formed? Are there other methods besides optometry to correct vision? According to Chinese medicine, myopia caused by acquired factors is mostly due to prolonged vision, resulting in stagnation or lack of qi and blood, coupled with prolonged vision, making the eye tendons contracted and the blood channels stagnated, and eventually causing the disease. Acupuncture is performed by identifying the acupuncture points of the limbs and the points around the eyes, and with ear acupuncture pressure and back cupping, it can dredge the meridians, move the qi and blood, nourish the yin and blood of the liver and kidney, and invigorate the yang energy. When the function of the internal organs and blood is adjusted and the blood and qi are sufficient, the visual function can be improved and restored. Adolescents are in a period of vigorous growth and development, with strong regulation of the eye and greater extension of the spherical wall, and the possibility of improving vision through acupuncture treatment is much greater than that of adults. In addition to acupuncture treatment, attention should also be paid to eye hygiene, continuous close eye use should not exceed 45 minutes; to ensure sufficient sleep, 11:00-3:00 pm is the repair time of the liver and gallbladder meridian, should sleep and rest before; to a balanced diet, the diet in daily life should be a reasonable mix of meat and vegetables, not partial food, to ensure a complete balance of various nutrients; pay attention to less candy and high-sugar foods; appropriate increase outdoor activities, such as running, doing radio exercises, playing ball, playing shuttlecock, etc.
