Introduction to Sleeve Crowns and Precision Attachment Dentures

Socket crowns and precision attachments are widely used abroad as a cosmetic prosthetic denture restoration technique. For patients with few remaining teeth in the mouth and loose abutment teeth, this technique has good results in terms of aesthetics, strong retention, protection of abutment teeth, and improved occlusal force. The sleeve crown restoration can use the remaining tooth roots as the abutment teeth, without damaging the healthy natural teeth, and some of the remaining roots do not need to be extracted, which can maintain the alveolar bone height to the maximum. It is an advanced restorative technology that is easy for patients to remove and wear, stable and aesthetically pleasing. Precision attachments are removable partial dentures, removable-fixed dentures, and fixed bridges that have precision attachments to provide retention. A precision attachment is an inlay shaped retention device that is partly fixed to the abutment teeth and partly connected to the denture base or bridge to provide retention, support and stability, and is more aesthetically pleasing and comfortable because there is no retainer and the base is smaller compared to a regular removable denture. The Department of Prosthodontics has mature experience in the treatment of these items. In today’s world, science and technology are advancing by leaps and bounds, new technologies and new instruments are emerging, and along with the rapid development of aesthetics, oral patients’ requirements for beauty are also increasing. There are two reasons for patients to visit the clinic: oral diseases and oral aesthetics. When patients are not satisfied with the aesthetics of traditional denture, they can use attachment denture and sleeve crown denture for cosmetic restoration.
