Self-ligating braces replace traditional braces for the same reason as history, only the tried and tested braces that are truly beneficial to the patient will eventually settle down and be popularized. Self-ligatures do not require ligatures and can spontaneously generate a bioregulatory force effect. With traditional braces, on′t need to elasticize orthodontic wires in place. They generate forces to remove the teeth from the system. All braces have spaces called “slots” where the wires are placed. The slots are not closed by elastic bands, but by a slide mechanism. This slide mechanism allows the wires to remain attached to the brackets while applying a minimum of friction and pressure. There is also no elastic band, which attracts and collects plaque and food debris, making oral hygiene much easier in treatment.
