E.E. can also present with a low fever because E.E. is caused by a child’s infection with human herpes virus type 6. Most E.E. causes a high fever in children, with temperatures mostly above 39 degrees Celsius. However, some children with poor immune function also have a low fever after contracting E.E.S. Therefore, children with E.E.R. can have both high and low fevers, with low fevers being less likely and seen in children with poor immune function and a deficient qi constitution. For low fever caused by E.E.R., if it does not exceed 38.5℃ under the armpit, it is only necessary to drink more water and carry out physical cooling without oral antipyretic drugs such as acetaminophen.
