Epidermoid cysts present as dome-shaped swellings raised above the skin, which can have small holes in the centre, develop slowly, are normal coloured, hard and a few millimetres to a few centimetres in diameter. They can occur anywhere on the body, mostly on the head, face and upper trunk, often singly or in several places, but rarely in multiple cases. There may be localised redness, swelling, fluctuating sensation, suppuration, pain and tenderness secondary to bacterial infection.
