Which moles should be treated, and how should they be treated?

Most of these moles can stay with the human body for a lifetime and do not need any treatment. At present, there are three types of people who come to our hospital for mole removal: 1. Those who feel that moles are growing, or have itching and pain, or have surface erosion or ulceration and are suspected of malignant change; 2. Those who have moles growing on exposed parts such as face and ask for treatment because they feel that they affect the beauty; 3. So which moles should be treated and how should they be treated? 1.Moles with malignant tendency should be actively treated by surgery and pathological examination. For example, moles that grow in areas easily stimulated by friction; moles with atypical appearance; moles with sudden and rapid changes and congenital moles. These moles should not be treated by non-surgical methods such as laser because they may stimulate the nevus cells to become malignant. 2. Moles that do not have malignant tendency but affect aesthetic appearance can be treated by surgery, laser and electrocautery according to the location, size and depth of the mole and the patient’s will. At present, we do not advocate the use of freezing and chemical erosion to remove moles, because they may have hidden dangers such as unclean removal and stimulation of malignant transformation of mole cells. Laser or electrocautery treatment is suitable for small moles less than 0.5 cm in diameter, which is simple and convenient to operate, with less damage to normal tissues and small scar after healing, but the shortcomings are that it is difficult to keep the mole tissue for pathological examination and there is a chance of recurrence; while surgical removal of moles can make up for the shortcomings of the above methods, many people refuse surgical removal because they are worried about the formation of large scar after surgery. In fact, after the mole is removed, it is sutured with very fine sutures and the incision is hidden in the expression lines or skin lines as much as possible, so the postoperative scar is not obvious and even better than laser mole removal, which can achieve the purpose of both beauty and disfigurement. Some people think that mole removal is a trivial matter, and often use irregular methods to remove moles in some places without medical qualification in order to save time and money, which results in a large scar that affects the beauty of the lighter ones and a life-threatening malignant change of the mole that is more than worth the loss.
