Can you drink alcohol in lupus erythematosus?

Alcohol consumption is not recommended for patients with lupus erythematosus. Lupus erythematosus, which includes cutaneous lupus erythematosus and systemic lupus erythematosus, may be associated with systemic or multi-systemic damage, and is a connective tissue disease related to the patient’s autoimmune dysfunction. Alcohol is not recommended for patients with lupus because it may affect the efficacy of certain medications used in the treatment of lupus, such as glucocorticosteroids like prednisone acetate, and alcohol itself may aggravate lupus. In addition, lupus patients are not recommended to drink coffee, strong tea and other beverages that may trigger or aggravate the disease, and also need to avoid eating mushrooms, leeks, cilantro and other photosensitive foods, and the diet should be light in taste and eat less and more frequent meals. It is recommended that lupus erythematosus should go to the Rheumatology and Immunology Department or Dermatology Department of regular hospitals for detailed consultation.
