The normal value of preprandial glucose should be less than 6.0 mmol/L, and the normal value of postprandial glucose should be less than 7.8 mmol/L.
In the non-pregnant population, the normal value of preprandial glucose should be less than 6.0 mmol/L, and if it is greater than or equal to 6.1 mmol/L, the diagnosis is impaired fasting glucose regulation, and if it is greater than or equal to 7 mmol/L, the diagnosis is diabetes mellitus. The normal value of postprandial 2-hour glucose should be less than 7.8 mmol/L. If it is greater than or equal to 7.8 mmol/L, the diagnosis is impaired glucose tolerance, and if it is greater than or equal to 11.1 mmol/L, the diagnosis is diabetes mellitus.
For the gestational population, normal pre-meal glucose values should be less than 5.1 mmol/L, normal 1-hour postprandial glucose values should be less than 10.0 mmol/L, and normal 2-hour postprandial glucose values should be less than 8.5 mmol/L. If any of these indicators are abnormal, gestational diabetes is diagnosed.
