Trauma or burns can cause eyelid ectropion, especially lower lid ectropion, which can usually be treated with reasonable surgery to restore the shape and eliminate symptoms. Surgery can be performed about six months after the trauma. The top picture is about six months after the trauma, and the bottom picture is one week after the surgery, when the eyelid is completely restored to its original position and the symptoms have disappeared. The picture above is six months after the trauma, and the picture below is one week after the surgery when the stitches were removed. The top picture is years after the burn injury, and the bottom picture is healed by implantation, at the time of stitch removal after surgery.
