Eyebag surgery is the most delicate of all oculoplastic surgeries and requires a high level of precision and meticulousness on the part of the surgeon, who must accurately determine the amount of excess eyelid skin, so as to eliminate most of the visible fine lines and tighten the loose skin without affecting the position of the eyelid margin or the direction of the eyelashes. If too much skin is removed and too much damage is done to the orbital diaphragm, this can cause postoperative lid ectropion. Therefore, there is a risk of lid ectropion with eyebag surgery, but it can be prevented.
