First of all, you need to check your blood and ECG one day in advance. Once you get the results, you can make an appointment for the surgery. On the day of surgery, bring a bottle of plain water for your medication and a loaf or two of bread to avoid temporarily buying something you don’t like due to the long waiting time (my outpatient surgery requires patients to eat well before surgery).
It is best to have a family member or friend with you on the day of surgery. When registering (sometimes there are many people paying for the surgery and it takes an hour to wait in line for a single payment), have the family member or friend line up at the payment window while the patient takes the number to the office to be billed for the surgery and post-operative medication, then take it to the payment window and give it to the person in line, and then go to the medication window and wait in line. After the family and friends take the paid bill to the medication window, the patient goes back to the consultation room to rest and wait for the medication. After taking the medicine, patients are usually scheduled to have a bowel movement, and those who cannot have a smooth bowel movement will be given medicine to help them. Patients who cannot pass stool smoothly will be given medication to help them pass stool. It is generally required that they cannot pass stool again on the day after surgery and can pass stool the next day.
If the waiting time is too long or the previous meal is too early, too little, etc. you need to eat the bread brought before the operation. (Eating while waiting in line can save time). The main purpose is to avoid the patient’s hypoglycemic reaction after surgery.
Patients should preferably not drive themselves alone to the surgery. Although there have been patients who drive to the surgery or ride motorcycles or bicycles to the surgery, it is better to take a taxi home for the health of the patients.
