Why do children need dilated pupils to get glasses?

Myopia in children, now in the eyes of parents is not worth mentioning, but it does not have to be a huge problem, to the optician to do an electronic optometry, a few hours glasses will get. However, such a convenient method, in the eyes of eye doctors, is completely rash. If the “pseudomyopia” is not properly dilated, it will definitely bring harm to the child’s eyes. There was a 5-year-old girl, the right eye refraction has reached 500 degrees of myopia, but after wearing glasses to correct, vision is not much improvement. It was only after a week of slow pupil dilatation with atropine that his vision was 0.9 in both eyes and 1.0 three weeks later, and the doctor confirmed that the boy was “pseudomyopia. If the boy hadn’t been dilated at the time, he would have been given glasses, not to mention the lack of results, which would have contributed to the formation of true myopia. ”Pseudomyopia is a state of fatigue that precedes true myopia, and if this state is not relieved in time, organic changes to the eye can lead to true myopia. The purpose of dilated pupils is to relieve eye fatigue and relax the tense muscles so that the refractive error is accurate. If the naked eye vision is 1.0 after pupil dilatation, this is called “pseudomyopia” and can be restored to normal with rest and proper treatment. For children, the younger they are, the more flexible their crystals are and the greater their adjustment, so if they do not have a dilated eye exam, it is likely that some of the normal adjustment will be hidden, thus affecting the accuracy of the exam. Therefore, Chen Zhijun reminded that children with vision problems should always go to a regular hospital for optometry and prescription. The idea of not taking your child to the hospital for a dilated eye is not advisable because you are worried that it will affect your studies.
