Dental implants are classified into delayed implantation and immediate implantation according to the timing of implantation. At present, the more common clinical application is delayed implantation, which is the placement of implants on the healthy alveolar ridge 3-6 months after the healing of the extraction wound, followed by 3-6 months of osseointegration before the prosthetic restoration. Immediate implant placement is the simultaneous placement of implants after tooth extraction, i.e., the implants are placed immediately in the fresh extraction wound. A large number of animal experiments and clinical studies have confirmed that immediate implant placement is as successful as delayed implant placement for osseointegration. Immediate implantation depends on the patient’s own situation. Generally, single-rooted teeth, teeth with root fracture caused by trauma, teeth with untreatable caries, teeth with residual roots, and teeth with no inflammation in the apical area are most suitable for immediate implantation. The precautions after immediate implantation: 1. Eat soft food on the day after the surgery, and do not brush your teeth for 24 hours after the surgery to avoid stimulating the wound, and need local cold compresses. 2, immediate implant patients after tooth extraction, 3 months after surgery should not chew hard food with dental implants, in order to reduce the movement of the muscles around the surgical area, 3 months after surgery try not to laugh, frequent speech, etc., to prevent wound tearing. 3. Patients should rinse with mouthwash several times a day to avoid infection, brush their teeth once a day in the morning and once in the evening and rinse their mouth after meals, use toothbrushes with soft and hard bristles and rounded ends, use toothpaste with soft abrasives and warm water. 4. Go to the hospital once in the second week and the third month after the surgery for a follow-up visit if possible. The advantages of immediate implantation: 1. No need to wait for the healing of the extraction wound to be restored immediately, so that the chewing function can be restored early, reducing the number of surgeries and greatly shortening the treatment time. 2. Immediate implantation of bone grafting materials or artificial roots after tooth extraction can effectively prevent alveolar ridge resorption, avoid disuse atrophy due to tooth extraction, and minimize bone loss. 3. With reference to the orientation of the original root, the implant can be easily placed in an ideal position, and the crown can be easily coordinated with the neighboring teeth to form a natural curvature and obvious gingival papillae, which increases the aesthetic appearance while obtaining the most soft tissue support and preserving the height and width of the alveolar bone.
