ABC’s of dermatology consultation

Some of my friends complain that sometimes when they go to the dermatologist, they are given a lecture. Did you spend your money and wait in line for hours just to be “lectured”? It’s really unpleasant! In fact, the original intention of doctors are responsible for patients, a smooth visit not only need professional doctors, but also “professional” patients Oh, so that the acidic and smooth communication, the biggest beneficiaries or our patients themselves! Today we will teach you a few sure-fire techniques to easily handle dermatologists! Makeup can affect the doctor’s diagnosis to varying degrees, and even lead to misjudgment. I once saw a patient who came to see melasma, the thick foundation is simply blind, can not see the skin disease! Do you want the doctor to shave off the “big white” before seeing the doctor? Therefore, if you want to see acne, seborrheic dermatitis, or melasma on your face, you should avoid wearing makeup or wash your face in advance to show your doctor the most realistic condition. If the clothes are too tight and the buckle is tedious to open, it will increase the doctor’s consultation time and difficulty. One patient came to see the itch on the calf, the pants were too tight to pull up, so they had to take off all the outer pants, and it took a full three minutes to undo the tediously decorated belt! There are also some patients who wear one-piece socks for foot fungus, so they had to take them off from the top during the examination, and it took longer to undress than to see the doctor. So wear loose clothing and pants during the consultation, not only to save time and effort, but also to moderately protect their privacy, a double whammy. In addition, doctors are a little “cleanliness”, the patient in undress shoes and socks examination, it is best to leave the doctor a meter away, so as to reflect the respect for the doctor, but also to facilitate the examination. I personally saw some patients standing close to the doctor undressing, body dander “flying”, the doctor’s head suddenly snowy in June, the mood to see the doctor suddenly all gone. A significant number of patients have already purchased and used some medications from pharmacies or other hospitals on their own before visiting the clinic. Dermatology has a wide variety of medication types and dosage forms, a wide variety of methods of use, and complicated and awkward names. When the doctor asks which drugs have been used, the patient can only say that there are creams, creams, oils, water, tablets, powders, eaten, coated, applied, soaked, specific roots can not say clearly, only dry anxious, seriously affect the doctor’s choice of treatment drugs. The smart thing to do is to bring all the medications used to the doctor, even if it’s the rest of the box. It’s also a good habit to keep printed medication orders and receipts for each medication you pick up, because doctors are busy and sometimes it’s hard to read the handwriting in the medical records among peers. It is also a good idea to remind your doctor of your special conditions, such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, and various chronic illnesses, which are important in helping your doctor choose your medication. Leave enough photos Some skin diseases change quickly, such as acute urticaria with a very rapid onset and fading of the wind-blown rash, and no trace of it is visible when you come to the hospital. Some skin conditions change greatly in appearance after topical creams and drops, and are completely different from their initial appearance. All of this makes it more difficult for the doctor to make a diagnosis. The best solution is to take pictures with your cell phone during the onset of the rash and before the medication is administered, so that you can leave them with your doctor as an important reference, and you can also keep them for comparison before and after treatment. Especially for those who come to the doctor instead of their family members, they should take more clear pictures for the doctor to see, otherwise they will definitely be rejected by the doctor. This is because no doctor would dare to prescribe medicine based on the patient’s unprofessional description. The combination of Chinese and Western medicine is outstanding in treating acne, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, shingles and other chronic skin diseases, and many patients choose to see Chinese medicine practitioners. An important part of a TCM visit is that the doctor identifies the patient’s physical condition by taking a pulse and looking at the tongue to individualize treatment. Some patients rush all the way to the doctor at a trot with a soaring heart rate pulse; others, especially female friends, have the habit of brushing their tongues when brushing their teeth, leaving them bare. All these practices will make their pulse and tongue not reflect the real condition of the body, the doctor can not make a correct judgment, and lose the purpose of seeing a Chinese doctor. So the correct practice is to rest quietly for at least five minutes before entering the consultation room and to avoid brushing the tongue three days in advance.
