Are uterine cysts serious and what are the risks?

Uterine cyst is a benign tumor, which is more common clinically and usually not very serious. Uterine cysts progress slowly and are basically not cancerous, and the symptoms can be relieved or even cured with active treatment. However, since early stage patients usually have no significant clinical manifestations and only some of them may show symptoms such as abdominal mass and vaginal bleeding, many female patients may neglect treatment, resulting in aggravation of the disease and consequently prolonging the treatment time. If the cyst is small and mild, oral mifepristone with sclerotherapy may be an option. If the uterine cysts are large, they can also be treated with laparoscopic surgery, which is less damaging. However, if the patient is not actively treated and the uterine cyst grows too large and compresses the surrounding tissues, it may cause lesions in the surrounding pelvis, ovaries and uterus, which may require open surgical treatment to improve the symptoms and the recovery time will be prolonged.
