Notes for follow-up monitoring of hyperthyroid patients 1. Before and during treatment Routine blood, liver function, thyroid function and antibody, thyroid ultrasound must be improved 2. During treatment (1) Common side effects of anti-thyroid drugs: pruritus, rash, decreased white blood cells, liver function impairment, arthritis …… (2) Routine monitoring of blood, during treatment if there is fever and pharyngitis during treatment, routine blood tests should be performed immediately. (3) Routinely monitor liver function to help prevent serious liver toxicity. (4) Discontinue the drug and inform the doctor if symptoms such as itchy rash, jaundice, bile-free stools and dark urine, arthralgia, abdominal pain, nausea, fatigue, fever, and pharyngitis occur during treatment. Treatment Periodically test thyroid function to adjust the dose of medication. If methimazole (Tabazol/Sage/MMI) is chosen as the first-line treatment, it should be continued for 1-2 years and then discontinued or reduced for maintenance, and assessed for remission. Treatment needs to be continued for approximately 12-18 months or longer.
