Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (snoring for short) seriously affects patients’ quality of life and social acceptability, and frequent hypoxemia and hypercapnia due to repeated episodes of apnea and hypoventilation can lead to cardiopulmonary vascular disease and other vital organs, and even sudden death during sleep, so snoring is a potentially fatal sleep respiratory disorder. At present, there are various methods to treat snoring, in fact, scientifically speaking, different treatments should be chosen according to different conditions, which is the most favorable to the patients. Those with large tonsils and overgrown soft palate (accounting for about 25% of the total) must be operated, which is effective; those with backward fall of the tongue root are best treated by orthognathic surgery (accounting for 60% of the total), and those with small jaw (small chin) are also best treated by orthognathic surgery, and those with particularly serious cases should be treated firstly with continuous Positive Airway Pressure Apnea (CAPA) treatment before orthognathic surgical means are considered.
